Bonus Four! Perfect Projects

Introduction to the system

A project is like a learning path. You and your child have an idea you’d like to learn more about (or a topic, or a particular skill) and you combine a bunch of resources and activities to take yourselves from the level of knowledge or skill you currently have, right up to the next level. The concept is easy, but the putting this into practice can be harder than you realise.

You might find you have questions like:

What do we want to study?
Where do we start?
What resources should we use?
How will we know if the project is finished?

The MAGIC System

I have been homeschooling almost a decade and I have developed many projects for my children during that time. Sometimes they were flops, sometimes they were amazing. Now I have put together all my experience into one simple system to help you make every project perfect for your child and your family.

We will use four steps.
Step 1: The List.
Every time you think of an idea for a project you add to this list. When you are ready to create some projects, you can come to this list for a topic.
Step 2: The Map.
Identify where your child’s knowledge and skill is right now, where they would like to be at the end of the project, and then think about how you can get there.
Step 3: The Action.
Take your map and turn it into a real journey. Plan out the resources, steps, and activities you will work on during this project and do it!
Step 4: Reflections.
As you are working on your project you will keep track of all your learning so you can be sure you get to the right end point. You can even use this track record for your homeschool registrations if you need to.

How to use this planner

If you are new to planning homeschool projects just print out this whole planner and work from front to back. It will take you right from generating ideas for projects through to completing and recording your first perfect homeschool project.

Once you’ve found your feet, come back and print as many copies of each template as you need to.

Let’s get planning!
